Maxime Lutun

Matter and light have consistently been central to the concerns of Maxime Lutun. Born in France in 1976, this artist decided in 2010 to exchange a well-defined professional path for a career as a creator, fully dedicating himself to light sculpture. Since then, he has explored and developed works that blend technique and innovation, the result of meticulous work on the material. His creations play with shadows, lights, and transparencies.

His lines, although seemingly very geometric, exude a lightness and a sense of weightlessness. Fragmented objects, movements, light, and superimpositions of patterns unite in his work, which draws inspiration from both abstract art and cubism. Although his practice is rooted in an artistic tradition, Maxime Lutun’s works transport us to a universe where modernity takes on its full meaning.

“Through my work with light, I reveal plays of shadow, material textures, depth effects, thus offering multiple perspectives on the artwork. In the use of Corten steel, light truly serves the material. Another essential aspect of my work lies in the use of white, which, associated with light, embodies the perfect union of what I seek to unveil: depth, transparency, nuances of whites and grays, contrasts… In this alliance, matter allows itself to be fully illuminated by light.”
