La Galerie 38 presents the solo exhibition “Chant d’Etat transitoire” by the artist Fatiha Zemmouri.
This solo show brings together the latest works of the artist, several videos and a set of masterful paintings that mark the culmination of the reflection conducted for several years by Zemmouri around the material and the exploration of the elements.
Putting back the traditional support, the canvas, in question, the artist applies matter, itself transformed beforehand, that she assembles according to a process that lasts several days, up to thirty for certain pieces. These practices testify, in Zemmouri, of a will of return to the primitive gesture and of a redefinition of the art as place of the changes of the world. Alchemist, the artist is it without any doubt when, between his hands, the ceramic and the coal fix themselves to the canvas, blurring the tenuous border which exists between materials and supports, exposing the phenomenist richness of the most diverse textures, revealing what contains the earth and the wood to make them to us at once strange and familiar.
