La Fugue
11.10.2012 - 16.11.2012

La Galerie 38 presents the exhibition “The Fugue” of Amparo Sard.

Born in Majorca in 1973, she lives and works between Europe (France, Germany, Spain) and the United States (New York). Amparo Sard’s work, since the end of the 90s, is centered on her own body; emerging from her inner self, her first works are nourished by her experiences and are characterized by a work with materials evoking the organic.

In her studio in Dar Bouazza, Amparo Sard pierces again and again her canvases, mirrors and sculptures with tiny little holes, symbolizing a state of suffering that is specific to every human being. A subtle play of light and shadow which, under the violence of the gesture, makes the purity of the delicate materials vibrate. An artist of technique, she explores the coexistence of sensations, bringing together pleasure and pain, states of grace and tension, reality and surrealism. After the themes of indecision, error and impasse, this new series, entitled “La Fugue”, brings together paintings, sculptures, installations and videos to remind us that beauty often dialogues with evil.
