La Galerie 38 is pleased to invite you to discover a group exhibition featuring the works of Meriam Benkirane, Younes Khourassani, and Youssef Douieb, three artists with unique approaches, yet united by a shared pursuit of light, color, and transformation.
Younes Khourassani, born in 1976 in Casablanca, explores the concept of light through his paintings and monumental installations. Inspired by the philosopher Gustave Thibon, he seeks to reveal the light hidden in darkness. Following the global health crisis, the artist has undergone a creative shift toward luminosity, offering captivating and hypnotic works that invite the viewer to see beyond darkness and embrace hope and optimism. His artistic approach is a call to choose life and prefer light, with color acting as a prism that reveals beauty.
Youssef Douieb, a self-taught Moroccan artist, delves into the richness of geometric abstraction. Breaking away from his previous monochromatic approach, he brilliantly introduces color into his compositions, creating vibrant and intuitive canvases. Inspired by the spontaneous process described by Nicolas de Staël, Youssef Douieb presents a true symphony of colors, where each piece emerges from an instinctive and exploratory process.
Meriam Benkirane continues her exploration of modern urbanity through geometric abstraction, drawing inspiration from the work of Fernand Léger and her experiences in vast metropolises. Her paintings capture the energy of contemporary cities while questioning the spaces we inhabit and their impact on our perception. This group exhibition highlights the complementarity of these three artists and their ability to transform our perspective through deeply personal and powerful visual worlds.
