La Galerie 38 is proud to pay tribute to one of Morocco’s greatest artists, Mohamed Hamidi, through an online exhibition dedicated to his work. Currently exhibiting at the prestigious Arte 2024 Biennale in Venice, Hamidi is recognised for his immense contribution to contemporary art and to the Casablanca School.
The exhibition at the Arte 2024 Biennial, entitled Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere, has a universal and profound message. As exhibition curator Adriano Pedrosa explains: “The expression – Stranieri Ovunque – has several meanings. Firstly, wherever you go and wherever you are, you will always meet strangers – they/we are everywhere. Secondly, no matter where you are, you are always truly and deep down a stranger.
This reflection on universality has a particular resonance in the work of Mohamed Hamidi, whose works explore the themes of identity, memory and cultural diversity.
The 60th Venice International Art Exhibition, Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere, runs from Saturday 20 April to Sunday 24 November 2024 at the Giardini and Arsenale. Among the artists selected, Mohamed Hamidi features prominently, testifying to the continuing importance of the Casablanca School in the global artistic landscape.
In parallel with this international recognition, La Galerie 38 has decided to highlight the work of Mohamed Hamidi through an online exhibition. This initiative aims to celebrate Hamidi’s artistic legacy and offer a unique opportunity to discover or rediscover his major works.
We invite you to explore this online exhibition, which pays tribute to an artist whose impact transcends borders and generations. Immerse yourself in the world of Mohamed Hamidi, and be inspired by the depth and richness of his art.
