A loyal participant in the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair and a key player in the African contemporary art scene, Galerie 38 reaffirms its artistic commitment by unveiling a new, grand exhibition: Les Enchanteurs. This initiative aligns with the art fair taking place in Marrakech from January 30 to February 2, 2025.
The exhibition Les Enchanteurs will unfold in a unique 400 m² urban space adjacent to Galerie 38, designed to elevate the selected artworks and highlight the richness of the artistic practices explored by its talents. This complementary space will offer a fresh perspective on the innovative themes and languages brought to life by a selection of renowned artists rooted in the Global South.
Artists Olu Amoda, Philippe Dodard, Soly Cissé, Kendell Geers, Mustapha Hafid, Mohamed Hamidi, Jems Koko Bi, Abdoulaye Konaté, Siriki Ky, Mohamed Lekleti, Adjaratou Ouedraogo, Carlos Salas, Fathiya Tahiri, Barthélémy Toguo, and Dominique Zinkpè unveil unique works that reflect a cultural and spiritual blending. These artists, inspired by their ancestral heritage and cosmopolitan curiosity, invite us to re-enchant a world shaped by disenchantment and the challenges of modern progress.
The exhibition celebrates an essential force: enchantment. In the face of modern disillusionment—ecological crises, dehumanization, and the loss of spiritual values—Les Enchanteurs offers a poetic and philosophical reclamation. Through visual and artistic languages rich in polysemy, they reinvent narratives where harmony, transcendence, and mystery take center stage.
Les Enchanteurs are not merely creators; they are mediators between the visible and the invisible, between the past and the future. Together, these artists reactivate an alchemy that transforms the everyday into art and restores the place of wonder in our lives.
