Galerie 38 Participates in the Upcoming Edition of the 1-54 Marrakech Art Fair at La Mamounia – Stand LM4 from January 30 to February 2, 2025

“A bridge is a work of art that connects hearts as much as it connects shores.” – Paul Klee

Through this poetic quote, Paul Klee reminds us of the symbolic and universal role of the bridge: a space of passage and meeting, a link that transcends physical and emotional boundaries. Inspired by this vision, the exhibition Concrete Bridges, presented by Galerie 38 as part of the 1-54 Marrakech Art Fair, celebrates the power of art as a universal language capable of uniting generations, cultures, and places.

Bridges Between Generations

The exhibition brings together iconic figures and a new wave of contemporary talents. Mohamed Hamidi, a renowned artist and founding member of the Casablanca School, leads the way with his works that blend tradition and modernity. Alongside him, a younger generation of talented Moroccan artists—Ghizlane Agzenaï, Yacout Hamdouch, Meriam Benkirane, and Younes Khourassani—reinvents geometric abstraction by offering innovative perspectives. Each of these artists creates powerful visual dialogues, combining cultural heritage, contemporary influences, and personal vision. This artistic handover embodies a bridge between past and future, memory and progress.

Bridges Between Cultures

The universal dimension of the exhibition is also reflected in the participation of Kendell Geers, a South African artist renowned for his activism against apartheid. His work, blending poetry and activism, engages in conversation with the Moroccan artists’ creations, revealing shared values and universal concerns despite distinct contexts. Together, these artists build bridges across continents, offering a shared vision of a world where art serves as a medium for transformation and dialogue.

Bridges Between Places

Concrete Bridges transcends geographical boundaries, creating connections between various exhibitions by Galerie 38. On our stand at La Mamounia, echoes of The Conference of the Birds (simultaneously presented at Galerie 38 in Marrakech) will enrich the artistic narrative. Additionally, Younes Khourassani’s monumental installation Satori, visible from the esplanade of the fair, invites visitors on a captivating visual journey. This plural and immersive experience offers visitors a multi-dimensional artistic exploration.

A Universal Artistic Experience

The Concrete Bridges exhibition invites visitors to explore the many ways in which art connects minds, eras, and spaces. By building bridges between the local and the international, between tradition and innovation, Galerie 38’s stand becomes a space for encounter and exchange. This project perfectly illustrates the gallery’s conviction: art is a universal language, an intangible bridge capable of uniting hearts as much as shores, echoing the words of Paul Klee.
