Yacout Hamdouch
Yacout Hamdouch is a Moroccan painter born in 1994 in Casablanca. In 2017, after studying jewellery sculpture in Florence and gemology in Antwerp, she joined BRERA, the Milan School of Fine Arts. Upon her return to Morocco she set up her workshop in Marrakech. It is here that Yacout develops her imagination around the volatile principle of memory. She participated in several exhibitions and events in Morocco, notably during a collaboration with the Moroccan artist Amina Benbouchta in Dar el Kitab, but also during the 8th edition of the MasterMind organised by the GVCC in 2019 in Casablanca. In 2021, she is part of a group exhibition organised by the Taymour Grahne Project art gallery based in London. Yacout Hamdouch is currently preparing her first solo show with La Galerie 38, to be held in September 2022. Hamdouch’s work expresses a desire to break away from the figurative. It is form that serves colour and holds a key role in her work.
